The British Virgin Islands are a chain of many small and large islands scattered across one of the most beautiful waters in the world. Of those Islands, included the Norman Island. It is said to be named after a pirate who purchased it in the 18th century, and is also reputed to be the inspiration for the novel Treasure Island, and is even believed to have pirate treasure hidden on the island! Imagine going on a beautiful sailing vacation among a 51’ vessel named the “Mañana Maybe,” and stopping on a pirate-booty island! Most people had that dream as a kid, but now you can actually go!
Along with your vacation to the 600-acre, 2.5 mile long island, you should make sure to ask your Captain, Mr. Terry Clark, to take you to The Bight. The Bight is a bay off of Norman Island, which is famous for the three caves located within. These three caves are known for their beautiful snorkeling sights and their incredible darkness deep in the cave. After a nice snorkeling adventure, if you’re let down about not finding the treasure, take a swim over to Pirate’s Bar, Norman Island’s most famous bar. With entertainment and “pain-killers,” the bar’s famous drink, you can enjoy the rest of your night on Norman Island effortlessly. End your night with a beautiful sunset, and then on to the next incredible vacation day!
Booking your trip with Captain Terry to the Norman Island is very easy. Just log on to our homepage and see all necessary information to build your perfect vacation! Contact your captain immediately via email or telephone and get out on the water!

Have you thought about relaxing by taking a British Virgin Islands (BVI) sailing vacation? If you’re always on the go and feel like you never stop, you need a vacation!
Sometimes we may feel as if time to ourselves in the comfort of our own home is enough. And often it is! But real relaxation–such as you find when you truly get away from it all–can’t be beat.
When you’re home, you may feel obligated to answer the phone, clean the house, or cook. If you want to truly relax, you need to get away. Here are five reasons a BVI sailing vacation can help you do just that:
1. Sailing
Riding the ocean waves as you make your way toward one of the lovely island destinations or cays of the BVI is the ultimate way to relax. You’ll feel like a brand new person when your trip is done.
2. Swim
Swimming in the beautiful waters of the BVI is amazing and like nothing you’ve ever experienced. When you return home, you can look back on this vacation as the one you’ll always remember.
3. Dive
Scuba diving and snorkeling are something you might have only dreamed of. Warning: Exploring the ocean attractions can become addictive! Once you start, you may never get enough of it.
4. Walk along the beach
Strolling along a white sand beach, with the sand between your toes and the breeze in your hair will give you a chance to truly clear your thoughts and relax in a way you may not have done in years.
5. Soak up the sun
Soaking up the sun after your leisurely stroll will certainly relax you. Read a book, listen to music, or enjoy passersby. The hardest part will be going home.
There are so many things you can do on vacation and while activities are wonderful, sometimes you just need to relax. A BVI sailing vacation fits the bill perfectly.

Hiking in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is perfect. The trails are wonderful and the view is something you’ll never forget. There are more than 20 miles of trails specifically designed for hikers.
Imagine walking along the trail and suddenly coming upon a stretch of crystal water. The view is breathtaking! You can find trails that lead you to the top of a hill where you can see the water from above. And others where you’ll see the water from ground level. All of this and more is available when you hike in the BVI.
Here are five trails to get you started!
1. Bordeaux Mountain Trail
This trail starts at the beach and ends at Bordeaux Mountain Road. It offers a variety of terrain along the way, but is rather steep in spots making it strenuous going uphill and slippery down. But if you pace yourself and watch your footing, you’ll see sites you’ll never see anywhere else.
2. Drunk Bay Trail
Drunk Bay Trail is unique because of its rocky terrain where you’ll discover rock creations visitors have designed and left for your enjoyment. At only .3 of a mile, this is a more navigable trail than some, though the rocks can make it slightly challenging.
3. Lameshur Bay Trail
Lameshur Bay Trail offers open, dry forest hiking that is relatively even and wide so it’s great for beginners. View lavish greenery, unusual cacti, and an occasional deer along the way, as well as the water from a couple of spots.
4. Rams Head Trail
This one mile trail is rocky and leads to a unique blue cobble beach. Continue up the hillside about 200 feet where you can view the Caribbean. But watch your footing near the cliff edge so you don’t get too close a look!
5. Reef Bay Trail
Reef Bay Trail is the longest of the trails mentioned here. This moderate hike is an educational one with guided tours available to explain the structures and sites along the way. Taino Indian petroglyphs and Danish plantation ruins are only two of the charms that make Caribbean history come alive on your hike.
These trails and many more offer a fun-filled, relaxing vacation. Give them a try when you visit the British Virgin Islands.
